Separate areas for your child
Let's not panic... this, usually large, open space is a grateful "material" for arrangement. However, we must act according to plan. First of all, ask your child how she sees her new "room". In doing so, it is worth taking into account her interests and passions. This will allow us to designate certain special zones in the interior, e.g. for sleeping, studying, playing games and meeting friends. In many cases, the architecture of the loft will naturally delineate the boundaries of these areas, e.g. through stairs and columns separating parts of the room or lowered roof slopes. To define the zones, low plasterboard walls or Luxfer structures are also used, which are a design addition and, in addition, make the interior brighter. It is the light that often determines the décor. For example, where there is more of it, it makes sense to locate a desk. Place it under the window so that the back of the desk is against the knee wall. This way, the child will have light all day long, no matter which hand he or she uses to write. Light should also be plentiful in areas where children will spend the most time, such as the play area. - Remember that a m2 of glazed area of a window illuminates 8 to 10 m2 of floor space. In the bedroom, for example, let's opt for atmospheric, colourful balls of light, and at the desk, let's place a lamp made of flexible material that will bend as needed. In the relaxation area, on the other hand, there may be a few spotlights, highlighting, for example, the sofa or table where our child is engaged in various games, such as drawing or playing board games. Such a place will instantly become cosy. Remember, however, that it must also be functional and safe.
Don't forget about storage
To prevent the loft turning into a toy field, make sure you have enough storage space for your child's toys. It's best to invest in made-to-measure furniture that allows you to utilise the entire space, including the space under the slanted ceiling. This is where it's a good idea to put storage for the things your child plays with. If you don't want to clutter up the interior, you can also opt for clever solutions such as drawers under the bed or poufs that can be easily hidden under a table, for example. This will help to keep things tidy. An equally important aspect is the safety of our child. If your child is still small, opt for a special clip-on ladder to block the descent from the stairs. Let's also remember about the windows. First of all, make sure they are equipped with a special handle with a key, which prevents opening from the inside and outside. It's also a good idea to choose electric actuators controlled by a remote control. These will make it easier to close and open windows installed at a high height.
Planning and furnishing your loft can become a lot of fun for the whole family. Remember to create a place where you can relax, study and do what the children love most... play!
